NOM. Bannock from the oven, apparently a lot of people make it in a frying pan? I had no idea, it’s more common for people to make it in the oven where I am from. And if you’re real TRADISH (lol), you make it with lard or don’t make it at all. I make mine with vegetable shortening always.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Indian bread. Nooooommmmmmm
It tastes soooo good with honey.
I always oven it, otherwise you have to stand there and fry it. If you bake it, you get to sit (lazy lady is lazy).
Haha…and the lard thing, everyone did that back in the day! Lard on bannock, lard on your dried meat, lard in your tea! (Bannock, lard and tea, the Cree BLT.) That happens today too, but not as much.
My Dad was telling me today that, when he was a kid, whenever they cooked bacon, after they took it out of the pan they’d throw some sugar in there and stir it up with the bacon grease then take their bannock and dip in in the sugar grease and eat it. This was considered one of the best treats ever. The whole community did this; it wasn’t just his household.
