I’m not sure exactly the kind of meeting we are going to because some meetings we have been invited to before, we were supposed to just sit there and listen and not really ask any questions. Later on we’d find out it was a meeting where we were consulted.

Yeah, that’s right. The government tells us they consult with Natives on national and provincial issues, but really our Chiefs were basically told to sit there and shut up.
This is my government telling me how worthless my voice, as a Native Canadian, is. I seriously don’t have the words to explain how depressing knowing this is - knowing that the government invites Chiefs to the capitol to be ignored.

We have moons where I’m from too, but they’re a little different than those, being more nothern I suppose. My daughter was born in the Mikisiwpîsim (Eagle Moon; FEB), and my birth month is the Pawâcakinasîspîsim (Frost Exploding Trees Moon; DEC).

Every time I see one of these come across my dash, it’s just as sad and frustrating as the first time. When will people realize that this isn’t lovely or whimsical, it’s incredibly frustrating, saddening, and othering to those of us who are natives. Also, regardless of your intent, it’s a racist act. Please reconsider these images, and find ones of true Native beauty. It’s out there, it’s just suffocating under things like this.
